Our Story
My name is Grace Totten. I am 15 years old and attending Saint Malachy's Memorial High School. My sister (Hannah Totten) and I founded this fundraiser in 2018 with the help of our friends, family and community. At first, we just wanted to do something small like a bake sale but our mother believed that we could do something bigger. That's when we made Cardboard for Kitty come to life.
Cardboard for Kitty became a fundraiser in Saint John New Brunswick where teams of 2-5 people would choose from 2 CAT-egories and build a fun and creative cat home for their furry friends. In 2018 we held the event at Lancaster Mall. The following year the event was held at Market Square Atrium. Over 2 years we raised about $9500 for the Saint John SPCA, And brought joy to peoples faces the day of the event.
In 2024 unfortunately my sister Hannah will not be joining us but me and a team of cat-loving people plan to eventually bring this fundraiser across Atlantic Canada with the help of Brilliant Labs. Brilliant Labs is an Atlantic Canadian-based charity that aims to help children, adolescents and educators learn more about technology, bio-making and more! They are a hands on learning platform providing youth with plenty of opportunities! Brilliant Labs is also one of the charities Cardboard for Kitty will be donating to!
For Cats and Kids!
All proceeds made by this fundraiser will be split evenly between Brilliant Labs and the RedHead Strays. These funds will not only be used to help to shelter, feed and save animals but also used by Brilliant Labs to educate the youth for a brighter future.
